Synopsis:

In this summertime serenade, we find our two main characters, a young couple, enjoying the outdoors during a coastal summer vacation. Their joyful, enthusiastic, and carefree nature is aspirational, a momentary escape from the hardships of reality. I created this cinematic music video on a MacBook Air in the evenings after work, using shots and music generated with AI. Editing, sound design, and polishing were done in Premiere. I challenged myself to generate a song and footage using AI and complete this proof of concept while testing the current tools. Over my career as a CD and filmmaker, I’ve produced, directed, and edited 30+ music videos for independent artists and large labels. I’ve always gravitated towards music videos as a secondary creative outlet because, like most people, I love music. It’s a really neat meshing of filmmaking, branding, and music. After working with traditional workflows/methods over the years, it has been exciting to have these new tools in the arsenal and experiment through this type of lens.

Sound Design:

We hear a rich polished bed of atmosphere and sound effects mimicking real life environments and situational elements. The sound design plays a large role in encapsulating the viewer in happy, aspirational summer vibes. They also play and lead into the catchy summer pop-rock track, which evokes similar feelings. These sounds are featured throughout the video, over the music to heighten the sense of realism and wonder.
